Green building credits
or points are awarded when specific compliance targets are
achieved during the planning, design, build-out, and commissioning
stages of a residential or commercial construction or renovation
project. The use of gypsum products can contribute to credits
earned when a review is conducted based on a contemporary green
building standard. Areas where credits (or points) are awarded
include:
Gypsum panel products,
joint treatment materials, and gypsum plasters are manufactured
at dozens of locations in North America. Because of variations
in manufacturing processes, the specific attributes of gypsum
panels used to determine compliance with the criteria of green
building standards may vary by manufacturer and/or manufacturing
facility. In order to determine the appropriate credits earned
for use of gypsum panel products or other gypsum-based materials,
one should contact the gypsum product manufacturers during
the construction planning and design process. |
